TANDBERG Unveils First-of-Its-Kind PC Video Conferencing Solution (10th October 2006)
Only PC-Based Video Conferencing Product Which Features One Click Usage, One Touch Installation.NEW YORK and OSLO, NORWAY, Oct. 10, 2006 - Imagine sitting in a coffee shop or at an airport gate and with one simple click collaborating over video from your laptop with a colleague a continent away. Now imagine that you are the IT administrator that has just united an entire organization with PC video without touching a single employee's laptop. Continuing its track record for industry-leading innovation, TANDBERG(r) (OSLO: TAA.OL) today announced a first-of-its-kind solution, called Movi, that makes this a reality. It allows busy professionals to enjoy PC-based, visual communication from anywhere at anytime without making an appointment with the IT department.
Movi is a server-based video application for the enterprise market that re-defines ease of use. Users can click to initiate video calls in one of three places: a link from a meeting invite, a permanent link on a corporate intranet, or an address in the Movi directory. All that is required is a webcam, microphone, speakers and a computer with an Internet connection. Movi does the rest, seamlessly connecting users to a full video infrastructure via the Movi window.
The Movi solution allows employees to visually communicate with colleagues for enhanced productivity - anywhere they may be. Employees no longer have to solely rely on their phone for important meetings or feel out of touch when working at home or on the road. Face-to-face collaboration occurs right on the PC, speeding decision-making, leveraging remote expertise and unifying organizations. It's video at your fingertips - a must have tool for productivity.
Movi is the first PC video product to feature one-touch installation, and IT departments can manage Movi centrally through the Web. With no locally installed software, updates, diagnostics and measurement are much simpler than with other PC video tools.
"With Movi, TANDBERG is making a significant contribution to the evolution of unified communication - bringing video conferencing out of the boardroom and making it more easily accessible to people wherever they may be," said Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG chief executive officer. "With one-click usage and one-touch installation, TANDBERG has designed a solution for mass adoption and deployment, addressing the needs of users and IT professionals alike."
Movi is currently being tested with several TANDBERG customers and will be available for commercial release in the second quarter of 2007.
